AssetPulse launches RFID and sensor-based Asset Status Tracking Solution and announces strategic relationships with AWID, Sun Microsystems, TAGSYS and RFID4U
SARATOGA, Calif. — February 28, 2006 —AssetPulse, Inc. a startup focused exclusively on delivering real-time asset status tracking solutions unveiled its first solution - AssetGather, and announced strategic relationships with other RFID market leaders AWID, TAGSYS, RFID4U and Sun Microsystems, Inc. AssetPulse's AssetGather product is a web-based asset status tracking solution that gives enterprises the ability to view up-to-date status of all their critical assets and their impact on associated business processes.
“We are excited about the launch of our new AssetGather Solution,” said Vijay Sarathy, co-founder and VP of Marketing at AssetPulse. “AssetGather uniquely blends technologies such as RFID with our proprietary software sensor technologies to constantly and automatically collect and correlate asset data from different sources to present an aggregated and up-to-date view of the status of a company's assets. We are going to break down those silos of asset data and unleash previously hidden value to help businesses utilize their assets more effectively in today's real-time environment.”
Despite the best intentions, most businesses end up with silos of asset information in various databases, documents or applications. Often, the status of assets is tracked in spreadsheets or information about the assets may be locked in documents, log files, database or applications that are not updated regularly. AssetGather remedies exactly this type of situation by correlating information from all these disparate sources along with real-time location and status data from RFID tags and sensors to create an aggregated and up-to-date view of business assets.
A key component of AssetGather is the use of real-time data from RFID tags and sensors. AssetGather was designed from the ground up with a scalable enterprise-class architecture including Sun Microsystems' RFID middleware - the Sun Java System RFID Software, to be able to collect and process data in real-time from RFID tags and sensors. AssetPulse is working with a number of leading RFID infrastructure providers and system integrators including Applied Wireless ID (AWID), TAGSYS, and eSmart Source, Inc. (parent company of RFID4U) to help deliver its asset status tracking solution to the market.
"As one of the top three global RFID hardware manufacturers, AWID clearly sees a growing need for Asset Tracking solutions across industry verticals," explained Jeff Jacobsen, President, AWID. "AWID is excited to be working with AssetPulse to jointly address customer needs through the fusion of our new WinCE MPR3014 RFID reader family with AssetPulse's new AssetGather asset tracking solution."
"Sun offers an end-to-end RFID and Sensor infrastructure for securely deploying applications and integrating the edge of the business with the rest of the enterprise," explains Julie Sarbacker, director, RFID business unit, Sun Microsystems. "With partners like AssetPulse, we're able to deliver complete end-to-end solutions that address the customer's need for driving new businesses efficiencies using real-time data from sensors."
“TAGSYS is singularly focused on becoming the leading high-quality infrastructure provider for item-level asset tracking infrastructure,” said Elie Simon, President and Chief Executive Officer, TAGSYS. “As AssetPulse's singular focus is to provide asset tracking software built from the ground up for real-time data, we see great synergy between the two companies and believe that this is a partnership that will serve customers well.”
AssetPulse's offering - AssetGather, will be on display at RFID World 2006, being held at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Dallas, TX between Feb 27 and March 1, 2006 in the AWID and TAGSYS booths on the show floor. AssetPulse will also demonstrate its solution at the Sun RFID Test Center Open House on Feb 27 and at the RFID4U pre-conference training sessions on the same day.
